New Report Provides Toolkit to Help Fundraisers, Organizations Address and Prevent Harassment, Bullying and Discrimination

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), in partnership with researchers from The Ohio State University (OSU), has released the final report from its Fundraising Workplace Climate project: Speaking Truth to Power in Fundraising: A Toolkit.

First Collaborative, Comprehensive Survey of the Fundraising Profession Shows Urgent Need for IDEA in the Workplace

A new study, led by AFP, involving eight other fundraising-related organizations, and sponsored by DonorPerfect, shows the fundraising profession is suffering from significant instances of bias and discrimination and will benefit from stronger leadership, more intentional support of staff and deliberate attention to creating policies and practices related to inclusion, diversity, equity and access.

Almost half of all fundraisers have some sort of personal experience with sexual harassment, with a quarter of all female fundraisers having been sexually harassed during their careers, according to a Spring 2018 survey by AFP, the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy and The Chronicle of Philanthropy, and conducted independently online by the Harris Poll.
