Thriving in a Chaotic Future

Futurist Jamais Cascio will help AFP frame the future, so we can be more future-ready and more able to make our preferred futures possible. Jamais will introduce the BANI Future: Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, Incomprehensible—and he will show us how to flip it positive by being Bendable, Attentive, Neuorflexible, and Interconnected. The future will be increasingly chaotic, but we can thrive if we frame the future accurately and spark better possibilities.

Barbara Michelle Johnson

Michelle has spent 25 years as a fundraiser analyzing development programs, working strategically to develop action plans, and leading and building inspiring teams. She specializes in advocacy and rights organizations having her career working for women’s and LGBTQ+ rights, health policy advocacy, homelessness and immigration rights. She is an instructor at the University of Washington Fundraising & Nonprofit Management Certificate program.

She is a Past Co-President of the AFP Advancement Northwest Board and has held multiple roles over the past decade. Michelle enjoys biking for snacks, writing, reading, traveling with her wife and being managed by their two young cats.
