AFP BC, Okanagan Chapter Event: National Philanthropy Day Celebration

We hope you will join us in our celebration of National Philanthropy Day on November 13, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (PT).

The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Okanagan Chapter, is pleased to present National Philanthropy Day event in Kelowna. We would love for you to join us in celebrating philanthropy and the positive impact giving, volunteering and charitable engagement has in the Okanagan.

Philanthropy is "the love of humankind," and National Philanthropy Day (NPD) is the day that thousands of people around the world come together to both put that word into action and recognize the change that word has brought to our communities.

Over the past year, the trust and belief those in our community garner towards causes that they care about has elevated the community. They are defining our social fabric; creating a caring, nurturing, supportive and uniquely better community.

When it comes to local giving we are relatively young - our higher education, hospital and community foundations are all less than 40 years old. And the opportunities to give to our many grassroots organizations are somewhat new in comparison to the number of years each has been providing services within our city. The tenacity of the collective efforts, extraordinary generosity and passion for each cause has transformed our community.

These humans are leading the way for all of us. They are inspiring new generations to give, to think differently and be the change. Their legacy is a community that wraps support around those in need, around our most vulnerable.

The AFP Okanagan Chapter believes it is important to honour those in the community whose belief and trust in the causes they support is making a difference in the transformation of our community and improving the quality of life for everyone.
