Karen Rotko-Wynn to Lead AFP Foundation for Philanthropy

(Arlington, Va.) Karen Rotko-Wynn, CFRE, will serve as chair of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Foundation for Philanthropy in 2019.

Rotko-Wynn is executive vice president of The Alford Group, Inc., a consulting firm that provides services in fundraising, organizational strategy, governance and assessment to nonprofits. She has been a member of AFP for 29 years and has previously served in numerous positions on the AFP Association and Foundation Boards.

"The AFP US Foundation board is committed to increasing philanthropy to support leadership development in the nonprofit sector,” said Rotko-Wynn.  “Our primary areas of focus are to support leadership in the sector, diversity in the workforce, research to enhance the profession and increased awareness and education to strengthen ethics in the sector. By supporting the Foundation, members and other funders support all these efforts, as well as providing scholarships for the International Conference on Fundraising.  It is an honor to serve as chair, and I look forward to working closely with our board and association leadership to increase awareness and relevance of the Foundation and to raise a lot of money to help the profession!"

AFP is the largest association of professional fundraisers in the world, representing more than 31,000 individuals and nonprofits generating charitable support for a vast array of philanthropic causes. The mission of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy is to enhance philanthropy and volunteerism through programs of education, research and service that benefit those that lead, serve and support nonprofit institutions.

In addition to Rotko-Wynn, the officers for the Foundation for 2019 will include:
