National Philanthropy Day Highlight: Sara DeLapp
Throughout the month of November, the Association of Fundraising Professionals will be highlighting honorees from National Philanthropy Day chapter events around the world, showcasing outstanding donors, volunteers, corporations, foundations and others who are being recognized for their commitment to change and philanthropy.
Today, we’re showcasing Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Sara DeLapp, nominated by Wake Forest Baptist health leaders and honored by the AFP North Carolina Triad Chapter.
Sara was nominated not only for her commitment to the hospital, but for her dedication to the community in general. She has served on boards with the Lexington Medical Center and Lexington Medical Center Foundation, and has led many of the hospital’s fundraising efforts, including the $1.6 million raised through an initiative known as Sportsman’s Saturday, which serves the hospital where it is needed most.
Sara also serves her community through working with the J. Smith Young YMCA and Davidson Medical Ministries. She and her late husband, Bill, were previously recognized with the Hospice of Davidson County Founders Award.
From 1994 to 1996, Sara served as president of the Davidson County Community College Foundation and served on their board for 22 years. She was also an active member of the Charity League of Lexington for 16 years and assisted in raising more than $50,000 through the first Charity League Gala, benefiting children in the Lexington area.
The AFP North Carolina Triad Chapter will host its National Philanthropy Day event, honoring Sara and others today, November 25, at 11:30 a.m. at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center. To learn more about the event and honorees, please click here.
