The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Sonia Sheechoria, CFRE, MLCE, as the new director of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada. Sonia began her role on December 2, 2024, following a national search initiated in October for a half-time director to lead the Foundation’s vital work across the country.
With over a decade of experience in the nonprofit and higher education sectors, Sonia brings a wealth of expertise in fundraising, board leadership, and organizational development. Her extensive career has been marked by a commitment to empowering individuals and organizations to achieve their highest potential.
As a vice chair and leader on various boards, Sonia has contributed to governance, strategy, and mission-driven success, helping nonprofits create sustainable growth and long-term impact. She is deeply passionate about fostering equitable and inclusive leadership and has served as a mentor and career coach to hundreds of professionals, guiding them toward impactful roles and meaningful contributions in the sector.

Elle est profondément passionnée par la promotion d’un leadership équitable et inclusif et a servi de mentore et d’accompagnatrice de carrière à des centaines de professionnels.le.s, les guidant vers des postes importants et des contributions significatives dans le secteur.
