Today, we’re highlight Nathan Manners, nominated by The Sunshine Foundation of Canada and honoured by the AFP Golden Horseshoe Chapter in Ontario as its 2019 Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Awardee.

Living with cerebral palsy, Nathan wanted nothing more than to explore his community with his own bike. Needing an adaptive tandem bicycle that is often expensive, The Sunshine Foundation made his dream a reality, inspiring Nathan to pay it forward.

Nathan and his mother decided to host a garage sale as an enjoyable and easy fundraiser with proceeds benefiting the foundation. In 2016, “Nathan’s Garage Sale” was an officially established initiative, taking Nathan’s fundraising a step further, helping to support children across Canada who are living with severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses.

The AFP Golden Horseshoe Chapter hosted its National Philanthropy Day event and honoured Nathan on November 15, 2019. To learn more about the chapter, please click here. To learn more about Nathan’s initiative, click here.
