Marco Corona

Marco A. Corona is the Director of Individual Giving at the Southern Environmental Law Center, leading the organization’s major and mid-level gift program and driving individual philanthropy to help defend the environment in one of the most critical battlegrounds in our climate crisis—the Southeastern United States. Previously, Marco has served as the Chief Development Officer at the International African American Museum as well as One80 Place (a Charleston-based organization ending and preventing homelessness across South Carolina). He was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, attending UCLA before embarking on a more than 20-year career in nonprofits that includes 18 years of fundraising. While in California, he worked for Best Buddies International and the Level Playing Field Institute as well as The Jamestown Community Center. In addition, he is a graduate of Leadership Charleston (class of 2017), a past president of the AFP SC Lowcountry Chapter, a former Inclusion Diversity Equity Access (IDEA) Committee Chair for AFP Global, and a former secretary of the AFP Global board. Marco has lived in Charleston since 2013 with his wife, Kat, and daughter, Grace.
