Nominations

Earlier this month, I went to Monterrey, Mexico for a meeting of the AFP Mexico and AFP Foundation - Mexico boards. In July, the AFP Global Board will be visiting our offices in Virginia for their annual in-person summer meeting. Thinking about these meetings reminds me just how critical boards, and all of our volunteers, are to the success of AFP.

As nonprofit professionals who work with your own boards and volunteers on a regular basis, I know you know just how important these supporters are. Their input guides your organization’s priorities and helps you stay in touch with the needs of the communities you serve.

At AFP, we need our members to take on these roles, to help us understand what is important to the fundraising community and help guide us towards a more equitable future for everyone in our profession.

If someone in your chapter, or a talented fundraiser from your peer network, has an interest in shaping the future of AFP and the future of our profession, I encourage you to submit a board nomination on their behalf.

We are currently accepting nominations for the 2024 AFP Global Board, with a submission deadline of June 12, 2023.

The nominating committee meets this July and will determine a slate for the calendar year 2024 for the following seats:

  • Two officers for the positions of secretary and treasurer.
  • Three vice chair roles for the membership services, professional development, and external relations divisions.
  • Five at-large director roles to serve a two-year term.

Candidates should have two years of volunteer experience, demonstrate dedication and service to the social sector, and possess the skills needed to govern a professional association.

Those who self-identify as members of diverse communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Only by incorporating diversity of thought into our work, can we create programs and initiatives that aren’t just diverse in name, but truly address the various challenges that fundraisers of all backgrounds, experiences, and abilities, are facing.

You have the power to influence the focus and direction of AFP — by nominating leaders for the AFP Global Board of Directors. Help us support your priorities for the profession by submitting your nomination today
