AFP Ready Reference: Embracing and Living Ethics in Fundraising

Too often, we focus on ethics from a negative or corrective perspective. Our conversations may be robust only in the midst of a controversy or scandal. Making the consideration of and conversations about ethics normal and routine can change people’s perceptions as well as organizational cultures. Making ethics a part of policies, procedures, and meeting agendas, as well as staff, board, and volunteer training, will help integrate ethical practice into individual behaviors and develop and strengthen organizational cultures.
