Nominations Now Open for 2023 AFP Global Board of Directors

As Immediate Past Chair, it is my great honor to chair the AFP Global Nominating Committee. The committee is responsible for determining the slate of board members that will be presented to the full association membership for approval in the fall. In other words, these are the volunteer leaders who will represent you in the coming years!

The Nominating Committee is meeting this July and will select a slate for the calendar year 2023 for the following seats:

  • Three Officers for the positions of Chair-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer.
  • Three Vice Chair seats for Membership Services, Professional Development and External Relations.
  • Five At-large Director seats to serve a two-year term.

Per the September 2019 Bylaws, the board will be composed of not less than 12, and not more than 24, members. Board terms are two years depending on the position, while officers serve one year terms. No elected director may serve more than eight years consecutively on the board in any combination of director categories, excluding the chair-elect track. However, individuals may return to the board after a minimum one-year break in service, and may serve in any role except an officer position they previously held.

I encourage you to nominate qualified individuals who have distinguished themselves by advancing our sector, profession and/or our association. As a reminder, you may self-nominate, nominate a colleague, or invite your chapter to nominate you or a colleague.

Prior to making any nominations, please carefully review the criteria for service. The deadline for submission of completed nominations is June 13, 2022. All nomination forms must be submitted using the nomination JotForm found on the AFP website: form.jotform.com/220094717367156.

  • Leadership ability and experience which demonstrates the skills needed to govern a professional association.
  • Dedication and service to the social sector.
  • No less than two (2) years of volunteer service to AFP, philanthropy and/or the community locally, nationally and/or internationally.
