History: The Western New York Chapter got its start in the late 1970s when a small group of fundraisers from health-related organizations began to meet informally to discuss mutual concerns. From that humble beginning, today's chapter, with a current membership of more than 230, represents all areas of the philanthropic world that work together to enhance the development efforts of charitable organizations throughout Western New York.

The objectives of our organization are to advance professionalism, foster ethical standards and promote public understanding of philanthropy and fundraising. To achieve these objectives, the Western New York Chapter offers a wide array of programs and services, including educational seminars, scholarships, mentoring, newsletters, and a job bank. In addition, members have access to national resources including the fundraising library, advocacy assistance, educational programs, and national conferences.
