Ethical standards and principles are the foundation for maintaining donor and public trust. AFP provides a self-governed process for addressing ethical concerns and the only enforceable code of ethics in the fundraising profession.

The updated AFP Code of Ethical Standards has been released. Join us in celebrating Ethics Awareness Month and #ModernizingEthicalFundraising!

 

  • AFP's updated Code of Ethical Standards and the new Member Code of Conduct are now available to read here on the AFP website. The codes will go into effect on January 1, 2025.

  • Any members who join or renew between October 1, 2024 and January 1, 2025, will be required to read and agree to the codes during the renewal/join process. The codes will still become enforceable on January 1, 2025, even for members who have already signed the codes prior to this date. Any violations during this period, will be enforced via the prior code.
     
  • From January 1, 2025 onward, any member who has not already signed the codes, will be prompted to sign them upon logging into the website for the first time in the new year.
