Join us on Thursday, November 22nd for an afternoon of learning, networking and delicious indulgences! From 3:30 to 5:00 you will hear from one of the sector's most influential people - Guy Mallabone - as he presents his Top 10 Tips for Creating a Successful Major Gifts program

About the session: Guy doesn't hold back when it comes to sharing the top ten lessons learned from 38 years in Fund Development. From the practical to the philosophical, from the urgent to the compelling, hear one man's opinion about what you should stay focused on as a fundraising and resource development professional. Guy will share his perspective on the top 10 critical lessons you need to stay focused on and implement in order to be successful.

About the speaker: Guy Mallabone is currently President/CEO of Global Philanthropic Canada. He has served as Vice-President of External Relations for SAIT Polytechnic (1999-2010) and Chief Development Officer for the University of Alberta (1995-1999), as well as senior fundraising positions at the Canadian Red Cross Society and cultural non-profit organizations. Since 1980 Guy has successfully led numerous fundraising campaigns, large and small, including the $190 million It Makes Sense campaign at the University of Alberta. Guy serves on a number of boards and committees and has also served as a former member of the International Board of Directors for AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) and CFRE Professional Certification Board. Guy is a regular speaker and presenter on fund development and has presented keynote and workshop sessions at numerous international conferences in Canada and the United States, Europe, South Africa, and Australia consulting nationally and internationally for a wide variety of institutions. Guy was recognized in 2009 by Alberta Venture Magazine as one of Alberta's most influential citizens and by the Calgary Herald in 2009 as one of Calgary's 20 most compelling citizens. Guy was awarded Outstanding Fundraising Executive by both AFP Edmonton Chapter (1999) and AFP Calgary Chapter (2011).

Their newest team member is Corrie Fortner, and she will lead their work in Edmonton. Corrie is a compassionate and enthusiastic fundraising professional with a strong history of success across the social sector. She is passionate about building strong communities. After completing her post-secondary education, Corrie worked with children and families, taking on front line, leadership and fundraising roles in children's programs, social services, women's shelters, health care, government, schools, colleges, national and community based organizations. The common thread is her drive to ensure people have access to the necessary resources to build safe and happy lives. Corrie has provided leadership and guidance to multiple organizations, helping them exceed their fundraising goals through major gifts, workplace campaigns, events, annual giving campaigns and legacy giving programs. She is very passionate about donor stewardship and organizational transparency. Corrie is also an experienced adult educator, board facilitator, program developer, community facilitator and strategic planner.

Registration

Pricing and Payment: Pricing is in Canadian dollars and Goods and Services Tax is applied (*GST # 88624 9416 RT0001). Pay online by Credit Card (Visa or MasterCard). AFP Members: $20. Non-members: $30.

Registration policy: All attendees must provide their first and last name. Please submit all names upon registration.

Cancellation policy: Cancellations must be received three days before the event or you will be ineligible for a refund.

AFP Member Pricing: An individual registering as an 'AFP Member' must have an AFP membership in their name. AFP memberships are assigned to an individual and do not belong to everyone in the individual's organization. Colleagues of an AFP Member must register as a 'Non-Member'. You must be a fully-paid AFP member at the time of registration to receive AFP member pricing. Persons who are not AFP members at the time of registration, but who registered at the member-only price will have their registrations voided according to the cancellation policy.
