AFP Greater Los Angeles Chapter: Unconscious Bias in Fundraising - The Journey Continues

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, & Access (IDEA): Diversity and Inclusion (IDEA)

FP-GLAC on August 11, 2020 for this special virtual event presented by the IDEA Council.

Unconscious Bias in Fundraising - The Journey Continues

Every person growing up develops unconscious biases which affect the way we perceive other people.  Racism is a primary example of such a bias.  Whether conscious or unconscious, racism and other biases limit our abilities to maximize relationships, to foster growth in others, and to be most successful as fundraisers.   These are three important goals!

The best way to become our ideal selves and bring out the best in others is to understand and recognize our own unconscious bias.  Then we can intentionally live an example that enables others to overcome bias as well.  We will be more effective in bringing out the best in ourselves, in our organizations, and in other people--including their philanthropy.

Join Vicki Clark, national speaker, trainer, facilitator and consultant extraordinaire, and unlock an awareness of your unconscious bias, and that of others all around us.  This is knowledge that will strengthen our personal as well as professional relationships, for a better future for all.

  • What is unconscious bias?
  • How does it get integrated into your brain?
  • How does it show up in fundraising?
  • What can you do about it?

Take the Harvard Unconscious Bias quizzes for Race and Sexuality to prepare for the workshop. (Recommended but not required for workshop attendance.)

This event has been pre-approved by CFRE International for 1.5 CEs.

This special virtual event is sponsored by DonorPerfect.
