Equity, Diversity & Inclusion – a primer for nonprofit professionals, with Dharshi Lacey & Michele Manocchi
With a better understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion, boards and nonprofit professionals will be better equipped to support staff, volunteers and clients as well as move their missions forward. Join Michele Manocchi and Dharshi Lacey for this thought-provoking session.

Speaker Bios:

Dharshi Lacey, Director of Equity, Inclusion & Governance, Pillar Nonprofit Network. Dharshi has worked for over 20 years in the nonprofit sector. She has many years of experience in Inclusion and Equity work. With her colleagues, she facilitates sessions with boards and organizations to help them embed an inclusive lens in their leadership and operational work. Dharshi also leads professional development workshops on board governance best practice and offers consulting services to nonprofit boards. She teaches Board Governance for the Nonprofit Management Post-Degree Diploma at Western University Continuing Studies.

Michele Manocchi arrived in Canada in 2013 from Italy. His own immigration experience is something Michele uses as a framework to observe and understand Canadian institutions, organizations, and society at large, particularly focusing on social justice and inclusion issues, which constitute his main passions. Michele is committed to support organizations and communities in tackling complex social issues such as equity, diversity, inclusion, racism, systemic discrimination, and implicit bias. To do so, he can count on his educational background and expertise, which includes a Ph.D. in Comparative Social Research, an Intercultural Competency Master Trainer Certificate, and a Strategy Implementation Institute Certificate (ongoing). Michele works as private consultant, along his career at Western University as the Internship Coordinator for the MA in Research for Policy and Evaluation, in addition to several research activities he is involved in.
