AFP NC Triangle Chapter: Skills Building Workshops - Mamma Mia! The Recipe for Grant Writing Success
Successful grant writing is like making a great dish. You need the right ingredients, assembled well, and, of course, a great presentation! More than filling out an application, grant writing is sharing the “business plan” of your program with a potential funder. This course will offer tips for success in all the phases of grant writing and the funding cycle, including one of the most important, and often forgotten, steps – planning!
The course will address key elements of the Pre-writing phase:
Involving your team in the planning process
Aligning the grant application with your strategic plan
And will provide tips for success in each of these key areas of proposal writing:
Need – The problem/opportunity
Solution – How your program will address the problem/opportunity
Program budget
Your team’s qualifications to deliver the program
Collaboration
Timeline
Desired outcome/s – measurement/evaluation
Sustainability
Donor stewardship
Reporting – actual outcomes
The course offers you a practical “taste” of real-world grant writing scenarios and will feature several interactive breakout exercises for participants to learn from others’ experiences. Participants are encouraged to complete a pre-event survey that will be sent upon registration on problem areas of grant writing.
