Presenter: Anita Kirkbride

Anita Kirkbride opened Twirp Communications Inc. after a 14 year career in the Halifax fundraising community where she worked for local charities YWCA, the Arthritis Society, and the Mental Health Foundation. Realizing communications was her true gift, and recognizing a huge shift was about to take place, Anita left fundraising to usher in the new wave of social media marketing in 2011.

She’s been helping businesses and agencies improve their social skills through social media consultations and training sessions ever since. Believe it or not, Anita doesn’t do all her talking online. She’s also a sought after speaker for local conferences and professional development events, having shared her expertise at Mortgage Brokers Association of Canada, PodCamp, the Centre for Women in Business and many other local events. She’s also the Founder of Social Media Day Halifax and HaliBlab: Halifax’s Small Business Blab, a podcast for the Halifax business community. Twirp Communications is the 2019 recipient of the Consumer Choice Award in Digital and Online Marketing, was a finalist in the 2018 Small Business Awards, placed 3rd in the 2014 Canadian Weblog Awards, and was named one of the top 25 Blogs to Follow by PostPlanner. While she's fairly easy to find online, if you need a conversation starter in person, just ask her about her love of cilantro.
