AFP NS, Nova Scotia Chapter Event: Maritime Fundraising Conference 2024

September 16-17, 2024

This year we are asking the question: Are fundraising "best practices" really what's best for everyone? Join us on a journey of introspection and innovation in modern philanthropy and fundraising, where critical reflection sparks actionable change.

The Maritime Fundraising Conference, presented by Global Philanthropic Canada is our chance to celebrate the strides we’ve made in our profession and confront truths head-on. We’ll be challenging ourselves to reimagine best practices and evolve how we engage in fundraising, examining established fundraising best practices through an expanded lens of inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility and anti-racism.

On Day 1, our delegates will have two tracks to choose from. And on Day 2, we will be offering a half-day workshop featuring Guy Mallabone, President & CEO of Global Philanthropic Canada. This will be a stand-alone offering or can be an add-on to the Conference.

He will teach a leadership class on Major Gifts: Moves Management and Effective Solicitation for Tomorrow’s Donors.

This session will examine how to prepare for successful solicitation of major gifts using the ‘moves management’ process and will provide practical guidance and techniques in building and using strong donor relationships to enhance your ability to raise major gifts. Key concepts to be covered include: the importance of engaging in donor-centric relationship building by reviewing the fundamentals of moves management; exploration of practical techniques needed to take those relationships to money; strategic overview of gift solicitation and the elements that influence a gift decision; examining the psychology of a successful ask; and the opportunity to practice solicitation role play.

The Maritime Fundraising Conference (MFC) is the largest professional development and networking opportunity for fundraising and non-profit professionals in the Atlantic Provinces.
