AFP South Eastern Ontario Chapter Event: The Logic and Simplicity of Blended Gifts

Relationships that live on after you leave an organization are built on affinity and trust. This is the logic behind Blended Gifts. The simplest of concepts to understand, Blended Gifts combine two streams of giving that maximize a donor’s ability to support the organization closest to their heart, hopefully yours. This workshop will open you to a new way of thinking so you never, ever leave funding on the table. This will be an interactive session, perfect for small shops who do it all, or annual and major giving professionals, and anyone wishing to round out their fundraising skills with this cherry on the top of the sundae methodology. There will be time to share your own case studies. Please bring a few donor scenarios you would like to brainstorm helping you in taking them to the next level.
Speaker: Eyre Purkin Bien, CFRE
Eyre Purkin Bien, CFRE is a donor centric fundraiser. For 32 years she has built philanthropic portfolios on the premise that people give to people. (Everything I know I learned in kindergarten?!) Originally a legacy media broadcast professional she was recruited to join United Way, serving KFLA as Campaign Director, leaving there 14 years later to join CNIB, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, then UHKF, University Hospitals Kingston Foundation for their Together We Can Campaign, returning to CNIB five years later, where she has seen out her career for the past dozen years. Carrying an annual target of seven figures in major gifts, she is most proud of her work leading two successful capital campaigns, one for CNIB Lake Joseph Centre in Muskoka, and most recently the CNIB Guide Dogs Urgent Expansion initiative started in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. Currently Director of Strategic Giving in the Planned Giving department of CNIB, Eyre has a focus on securing legacy and endowment gifts, and is looking to retirement at the end of the year with a different set of life goals.
