Mike’s Monday Message: Help Shape the Future of AFP Global

Are you passionate about AFP and the future of the fundraising profession? Are you interested in a leadership role that will facilitate career growth? 

Consider submitting your nomination for the 2025 AFP Global Board of Directors. AFP is currently accepting nominations for the following positions: 

  • Three Officers for the positions of Chair-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer
  • Three Vice Chair roles for the Membership Services, Professional Development, and External Relations Divisions
  • Five At-large Director roles to serve a two-year term

You may self-nominate, nominate a colleague, or ask your chapter to nominate someone who has demonstrated leadership capabilities at the local level. I’d also like to encourage everyone to share this call for nominations broadly with your networks, and invite those with diverse viewpoints, identities, and lived experiences to apply. 

Our current board is the most diverse group of leaders in the history of our organization. Having this breadth of knowledge and experience has been crucial as we have difficult and necessary conversations that foster true growth and progress in inclusion, diversity, equity, and access. 

It is also critical that our board be equipped to make important decisions that impact the future of our profession. For example, this year our board will be discussing and approving the strategic plan for 2025 and beyond, recommendations to update our governance ecosystem, and changes to our Code of Ethical Standards. 

We won’t be equipped to address key issues like these, for the good of our industry, our donors, and the people we serve, without leadership that is representative of our entire community. 

So please… help us get this call for nominations out there so we can continue the progress that we have made and take the next steps in our journey as an organization.

If you’re thinking about nominating, here are the requirements from our nominating committee. 

  • Leadership ability and experience which demonstrates the skills needed to govern a professional association.
  • Dedication and service to the social sector.
  • No less than two (2) years of volunteer service to AFP, philanthropy and/or the community locally, nationally and/or internationally.
  • Those who self-identify as members of diverse communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
