Amina Jameel, 2021 Emerging Philanthropist, AFP North Carolina – Triad Chapter

Amina JameelAmina Jameel has become a driving force for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro, both in terms of fundraising and in educating and activating her community to become more active with the organization.

After learning that many Muslim families have become homeowners through Habitat for Humanity, Amina became keenly interested in the organization and its mission. As a first generation American of Pakistani parents who immigrated to the United States, Amina saw this as an opportunity to give back and show her gratitude by bringing the Muslim faith community to work alongside other community faith leaders in helping to fund affordable housing through Habitat.

In 2019, Amina and her husband took a leadership role by forming a team to help raise money and recruit volunteers for Habitat’s 2019 Women Build project. She also formed two teams of 6-8 women who took part in the construction of the homes. Amina is leading another team for the current Women Build project, raised over $20,000 for this year’s Women Build, and plans to lead another build team.

At a grassroots level, Amina has taken on a mission of inspiring other Muslim women, empowering them to set such a wonderful example of philanthropy in our community.

Amina Jameel is the 2021 Emerging Philanthropist, honored by the AFP North Carolina – Triad Chapter. The AFP North Carolina – Triad Chapter will celebrate National Philanthropy Day on Nov. 22. Learn more about the event here.
