National Philanthropy Day® Spotlight: The Greensboro Builders Association
The Greensboro Builders Association, 2021 Outstanding Philanthropic Organization, AFP North Carolina – Triad Chapter
The Greensboro Builder’s Association (GBA) is a champion for affordable housing through its ongoing partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro and Community Housing Solutions.
The GBA started their partnership with Habitat Greensboro in 2003. Since then, 71 Builders from GBA have built 64 Habitat homes. Through the partnership with Community Housing Solutions, the GBA has renovated 12 homes to make them warmer, drier and safer. They have also completely rehabbed two homes and built two additional homes from the ground up.
In addition to GBA’s partnership with Habitat Greensboro and Community Housing Solutions, GBA members give back to the community in many other ways. The group organized hurricane relief trips for Floyd and Katrina and have assisted local community groups with construction-related needs. Partner organizations have included Peacehaven Community Farm, McIver Education Center, Hospice Beacon Place, Amy’s House – A Room at the Inn of the Triad, and the Bingham Street Redevelopment Project.
Greensboro Builders Association members are active, concerned citizens who live and work in Guilford and surrounding counties. The Greensboro Builders Association is involved in numerous community service projects on an ongoing basis, giving of both financial resources and in-kind contributions. GBA members are committed to ensuring Greensboro and Guilford County remain a great place to live, work, and raise a family. The Greensboro Builders Association was honored with the 2021 Outstanding Philanthropic Organization award by the AFP North Carolina Triad Chapter.
