Nominations now open for Class of 2020 AFP Distinguished Fellows

April 11, 2019

The Distinguished Fellows Program recognizes individuals who have made significant leadership contributions to philanthropy and the fundraising profession, and who will continue to advance ethical and effective fundraising through their volunteer and advisory work. The designation represents the pinnacle of service to AFP and the profession, and to the tenets of giving, volunteerism and philanthropy.

AFP membership has grown and now exceeds 31,000 individual members and over 1,500 non-profit organizational members. In order to serve the needs of members and the global fundraising community, AFP strives to maximize the benefit of the talent, networks and experience of its senior leaders. AFP developed a recognition program to highlight the areas where engagement with senior leaders could be most effective and the functional areas that might support the chapters as speakers and/or mentors.

The selection committee is comprised of the Immediate Past Chairs of the four AFP Boards as co-chairs from the AFP Board, AFP US Foundation for Philanthropy, Canada Foundation Board and the AFP Canada Board, and the Alternates to the AFP Committee on Directorship which provides geographic representation.

AFP has taken into consideration the concerns from other chapters who are currently using a Fellows Program and have spoken to each of the chapters to ensure that their programs are not confused with the AFP International Distinguished Fellows Program.

We are now accepting nominations for the 2020 class of Distinguished Fellows to be recognized at the 2020 ICON being held in Baltimore, MD on March 29-31.

Designation bestowed would be “FAFP” or “HonFAFP”. You will find additional information on the Distinguished Fellows Program brochure which provides you with the criteria for the nomination, the eligibility, the Fellow’s recognition and ongoing engagement.
