The AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising Course was developed with a foundation from the Essentials of Fundraising Program and the First Course and is composed of seven modules that have been designed by experienced fundraising professionals to meet the real-world needs and challenges nonprofit organizations face every day. This 16-hour program includes case studies and projects for groups and individuals, making the learning experience both substantive and enjoyable. The AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising Course offers a complete overview of the development function, featuring the most current information and techniques. This intensive program will provide an overview of skills, techniques, and program components for individuals with 0 to 4 years of fundraising experience.

Registration for the AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising course includes access to the digital participant manual (read only, not downloadable or printable and access available for 6 months). Printed participant manuals for the AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising Course are available during registration for an additional $50.00 USD.

A dynamic trainer, speaker and consultant, Ken Miller, CFRE is the president of Denali Fundraising & Grant Consultants, a nonprofit fundraising consultancy he founded in 2014 after a long career in development. Ken was awarded his Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) designation in 2016 and received his AFP Certified Master Trainer (CMT) certificate in 2017. In 2020 he was awarded the Outstanding Professional in Philanthropy by the AFP Alaska Chapter.
Jack Alotto is a graduate of Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) and he holds a Master’s degree from the State University of New York at Oswego, both degrees are in Psychology. Throughout his career, Jack has served in a variety of fundraising positions in hospital, social service and the arts as executive director, development director, major gift and legacy giving manager, and foundation and corporate relations manager.
Jack is an AFP Certified Trainer, and he has taught a variety of fundraising classes at JFK University and at the Fundraising Academy at National University. Jack is a California CFRE Ambassador and runs CFRE Study Groups and has taught CFRE Review classes in the US and Canada. Jack has presented workshops at AFP Global conferences and has published several articles and blogs. Jack is a hiker and traveler, and he is committed and passionate to philanthropy and works diligently to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in the sector.
