Fundraisers possess a servant’s heart, guide leadership, and put a smile on a donor’s face. However, a lack of professional boundaries creates people pleasing behavior that manifests in stress, anxiety, and a lack of focus on fundraising activities. This mix diminishes a fundraiser’s ability to develop into an effective leader, while opening the door to situations that cross into the space of Illegal, Unethical, or Impossible (IUI).

People pleasing behavior diminishes trust and limits careers, while impeding the efforts of fundraising teams. Without course correction, raising money and developing into an effective leader can pass by the hardest worker.
This workshop will guide participants through the following to assist in helping fundraisers focus on their professional development path and begin to develop firm boundaries.

Key Takeaways

  • Differences between team players and people pleasers.
  • Impact of people pleasing behavior – IUI.
  • How professional boundaries can effectively address frustrations at work.
  • Professional boundary assessment.
  • Subject matter expert categories and positioning.
  • Professional development plan.
  • Action plan.
