Grantmaking is changing to address inequalities within the community, advance equity through financial decisions, and build community capacity to improve the readiness of organizations and nonprofits. Best practices play a role in fundraising, resource allocation, and grant-making as they relate to equity.
We will review strategies and real-world examples that can be used, such as but not limited to:
- Driven Impact models (Market & Others)
- Engagement of donors to achieve their buy-in to devote resources to issues/problems, thereby increasing equity
- Grantmaking & New/Special Giving Initiatives (Legacy Collective/Giving Circles, & Funder Open Calls)
Presenter:
Georgiana Tynes is a Senior Grants Officer with the AdventHealth Foundation where she works to transform health care and close the gap of unmet needs. She manages Grant Department activities and develops strategic plans to significantly increase grant revenues. Georgiana is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) with over 20 years of experience working with nonprofits in fundraising and resource development with organizations that included Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Club, and United Way. She also holds a Grant Professional Certification through the Grant Professionals Certification Institute (GPCI). Georgiana volunteers for the common good by giving her time, talent, and treasure throughout her community. She is a member of the University of Central Florida Nonprofit Management Advisory Board and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Global LEAD Education Advisory Committee for 2024. Last year, she was a part of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Inaugural Leadership Institute Cohort, where she learned to integrate the principles of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) into practice. Georgiana and her husband live in the greater Orlando area with their four children and enjoy traveling and spending time at the beach.
