History: Founded in 1996, the Piedmont Chapter focuses on educating members, nonmembers, and the public in fundraising and development while encouraging the philanthropic spirit that makes a community great. The Piedmont Chapter is one of the host chapters of the Virginia Fund Raising Institute, and has hosted a variety of other educational opportunities with AFP chapters in Virginia and North Carolina, and the Central Virginia Academy for Nonprofit Excellence. The Piedmont Chapter hosts a National Philanthropy Day event annually. The Piedmont Chapter meets the third Tuesday of the month at noon at Boonsboro Country Club in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Membership benefits offered by chapter: The Piedmont Chapter provides outstanding fellowship, networking, and programming designed to benefit development professionals and allow them the opportunity to learn and share knowledge about the fundraising profession and the people and organizations served. AFP members also receive a discounted member price for the chapter’s monthly educational program and the Virginia Fund Raising Institute. For more information about membership, please contact VP of Membership, Kris Shabestar (director@mealslynchburg.org).
