(Arlington, Virginia) The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the largest association of fundraising professionals in the world, has announced a new, comprehensive strategic partnership with Bonterra, the second-largest nonprofit software company that works with over 15,000 organizations to raise more money and build more support.

bonterraBonterra will join AFP’s Partners Program as a Strategic Partner and will also serve as a Leadership Sponsor for AFP LEAD, the fundraising community’s annual leadership conference held this year in Houston, Texas, Oct. 20 – 22. In addition, Bonterra will support several different AFP programs and services, including the Fundraising Effectiveness Project and the association’s inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA) work.

“With this collaboration, Bonterra is demonstrating extraordinary commitment to the fundraising profession and AFP’s mission to advance ethical, effective and inclusive fundraising,” said Mike Geiger, MBA, CPA, president, and CEO of AFP.  “Given the breadth of their support in this partnership—supporting education, inclusion and equity, cutting-edge research, and fundraising thought leadership—it’s clear that Bonterra looks at the fundraising profession in its totality and wants to develop fundraisers highly skilled in all aspects of their work. I couldn’t be more excited about this partnership and am looking forward to seeing this relationship grow stronger to support the long-term success of the profession and philanthropy overall.”

Bonterra has been an active participant in the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy’s Fundraising Effectiveness Project (FEP), which publishes quarterly and annual reports that examine key fundraising metrics, serving as a benchmark for nonprofit executives, development staff and researchers. With this partnership, AFP will be working closely with Bonterra to provide additional resources through the FEP data to help the association’s members raise funds more effectively and efficiently.

“At Bonterra, we are laser-focused on building a landscape-defining software platform that enables and elevates the hardworking people behind social good organizations,” said Erin Mulligan Nelson, CEO of Bonterra. “In our purpose to help the doers of good power more social impact, partnering with AFP is a further reflection of our goals, opening even more doors to help the doers access the industry tools, resources, and support they need to do their best work.”

The AFP Partners Program provides participating organizations with year-round opportunities to engage the fundraising community and pursue corporate social responsibility through tangential support of the causes for which they work. Through thought leadership, marketing, content and professional development channels, AFP Partners position themselves as industry leaders committed to advancing philanthropy and ethical fundraising worldwide. Their financial and programmatic support also enables AFP to develop highly competent fundraisers and educate the public on the industry’s ability to fuel societal change in critical arenas like education, healthcare, community development, equity and inclusion and countless other missions.
