Mike’s Monday Message: Celebrating National Philanthropy Day
National Philanthropy Day is this Friday, November 15, which means AFP chapters around the world are gearing up to host their NPD celebrations. This year there are over 110 chapters holding events—a fantastic demonstration of just how involved our AFP community is at the local level.
It is always inspiring for me to see our chapters hosting these receptions honoring the fundraisers, donors, corporations, youth, and volunteers that are making a positive change day in and day out.
Each story told and person recognized emphasizes the fact that philanthropy can be accessible and transformative, motivating others to join in.
That’s exactly the spirit that we need mid-November, as many of you are kicking off your busiest time of year.
Entering the year-end giving season, the inspiration drawn from NPD events can be a powerful catalyst for your work. Fundraising is often a marathon, requiring commitment, creativity, and sometimes a leap of faith. The stories celebrated during NPD remind us why we do what we do and reinforce the profound connections that make philanthropy so impactful. I hope each of you can carry this sense of community and celebration back into your work, finding renewed energy and purpose to meet and exceed your year-end goals.
Finally, as you dive into this busy season, know that you’re part of a community that stands behind you. AFP is here to support, encourage, and uplift you every step of the way. Let the inspiration of National Philanthropy Day be your anchor as you bring people together and make lasting change possible through your hard work. Together, we’ll make this season a success, advancing our collective missions and strengthening the bonds of philanthropy in every community we serve.
