The Chapter Ten Star/Ten Star Gold Awards honor those chapters who have accomplished many of the key objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan.

AFP’s Strategic Plan is the blueprint for organizational growth and success in the future. For the strategic plan to be effective, it must be implemented through a partnership between AFP Global and the local chapters. As each chapter contributes its part to the overall Strategic Plan, AFP will meet its goals and continue to advance philanthropy and the fundraising profession around the world.

Program Mission:

The Chapter Ten Star & Ten Star Gold awards honor those chapters who have accomplished many of the key objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan.  Both Awards encourage chapters to perform specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy. 
 

Ten Star Eligibility:

Your chapter must acknowledge and be committed to the AFP Global IDEA Statement of Principles

All Chapters can earn the Ten Star or Ten Star Gold Awards. There is no limit to the number of Ten Star Awards that can be presented in a given year. Regardless of size, budget or resources, as long as a chapter fulfills the necessary goals it is eligible. The chapter must submit an application by February 2, 2026 for activities completed during 2025. The application must be signed by the chapter president and one other board member.

Process and Deadline:

8 goals are required of all chapters for both the Ten Star and Ten Star Gold awards. Ten Star Gold requires the completion of 8 additional goals and neither designation includes any optional goals as they have in the past. 

Chapters must submit the application form by the deadline. Submit all forms via the electronic application. All applications must be received on or before February 2, 2026, 11:59 PM (Eastern Standard Time).

All application forms will be acknowledged by automated confirmation e-mail. AFP Global reserves the right to confirm and verify goals on a nomination-by-nomination basis. Any disputes to the Ten Star or Ten Star Gold nominations must be received at AFP Global by March 2, 2026. The AFP Chapter Support Committee will make final determination on any disputed applications.

Award Presentation:

AFP will verify and determine which chapters have accomplished the necessary goals to earn the Chapter Ten Star award or Ten Star Gold award. 

Ten Star & Ten Star Gold Chapters will be recognized at AFP ICON annually and on the AFP website. All recipients will receive 2 complimentary conference recordings to be used that year, and use of a Ten Star or personalized Ten Star Gold logo to promote the success of your chapter on your chapter website, newsletters, stationery, etc.

Ten Star Gold Chapters will receive the following additional rewards:

• Logo personalized for the chapter
• One free AFP Global membership scholarship to use in your chapter
• Listing in Advancing Philanthropy
